Mordechai Anielewicz Centre for the Study and Teaching of the History and Culture of Jews in Poland

The Anielewicz Centre was established in 1990 following an agreement between the University of Warsaw and the Jacek Fliderbaum Foundation. Today it functions as a separate department at the Institute of History, University of Warsaw.

The Anielewicz Centre was created by Prof. Jerzy Tomaszewski, who headed it until his retirement in 2001. Today the Centre is headed by Dr Jolanta Żyndul.

The Centre carries out classes for history students as well as other students interested in the history and culture of Polish Jews. 2001 was marked by the creation of a course entitled “The history of Polish Jews”, which is one of the specialist courses offered at the Institute. We organise study tours for students interested in the history and culture of Jews in Poland.
